Then completed his studies with an additional masters degree in Computer Science (Faculty of Science), also at the VUB, in 1995.
At the start of his professional carreer, Jan worked for 3.5 years in the private sector: first as a programmer for Cap Gemini, an IT consulting firm, then for Warmoes & Van Damme, a company specialised in knowledge systems (now, partly Aktor).
Laurent obtained his master's degree in Electronics and ICT at the Erasmushogeschool Brussel in 2012.
He has been working as a researcher at the Erasmushogeschool Brussel and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
He has a Masters degree in Electronics from the VUB Brussels and a Ph D in Applied Sciences : Scalable Run-Time Reconfigurable Computing Systems also at the VUB. D student at Eh B - VUB (Belgium) under the supervision of Abdellah Touhafi.
He currently is a full time professor at the VUB and the leader of the Rapptor Lab. He obtained his degree in Telecommunications at the University of Vigo (Spain), specialized in Electronics and Telematics.
Since 2015, he is a assistent at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and teaches several ICT related courses such as informatics, FPGA and processor development and the basics of electronics and embedded systems.
His research is focussed on passive sound source localization, indoor localization techniques and realtime signal processing techniques on low power FPGA platforms.
Her current interests include cryptography, security protocols for sensor networks, secure and private localization techniques, and FPGA implementations.
Since 2009 Yannick Verbelen has been assigned the mandate of electronics assistant in the Rapptor research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
